Buddy left a legacy of love and caring devotion among his family, friends and the community. His many accomplishments, all worthy of high recognition, are secondary to his loved ones who have been shaped by his personal gifts of positivity each day, sweetness, kindness, sincerity, knowing right from wrong, valuing the importance of family, sharing amazing stories of his past, remembering to express appreciation, humor at all times, finding strength in adversity, practicing tikkun olum as a way of life and showing the willingness to give the shirt off his back to those in need.

Buddy, born in Brooklyn in 1924 to Leo and Rose, passed away at almost 93 years old, survived by his beloved wife Claire whom he met while ice skating 62 years ago. He is dearly missed by children, Laurie (Mark), Steve (Michele) and Rose. He couldn’t be happier to be a grandfather to Beverly, Brenda, Rachel (Jason), Taylor (Andrea), Spencer, Dylan, Elyssa and Rebecca. He was close to his nephews Jack, David and Paul, sons of sister Claire.

Among his professional accomplishments were: owner of a made-to-order women’s wear store, financial investments broker, and representative for Krementz Jewelry. Buddy was also a proud veteran of World War II, trained in the Intelligence Services at Fort Ritchie and recipient of numerous awards.

Strong leadership to various community organizations was a core contribution of his life. Buddy was a 25 year member at Congregation Beth Israel, served as president, temple investment planner, trip and fundraising organizer. He was also a 50 year member and past Chancellor to Knights of Pythias and was active in the Jewish War Veterans, B’nai B’rith and the Democratic Club.

As a husband, father, grandfather and uncle, Buddy’s favorite times were spent with family, especially his 8 grandchildren, watching them progress to adulthood, playing card games and sharing special celebrations. In the past he enjoyed travelling, shows and cultural events, golf, working on his home and socializing with friends throughout his life. Buddy will remain in our memories as a man who always claimed to be “fantastic,” even in the face of great challenge, with a smile on his face and warm concern for whomever he encountered.
