Ann Steinger
Jan 8, 2011      ג' שבט תשע"א

Ann Steinger, of Hempstead, New York, passed away on January 8, 2011, at the age of 95, and was born on June 27, 1915, in Brooklyn, New York.

She married Saul Steinger, and they settled in Hempstead, New York, where, in 1956, they established Top Hat Formals. When Saul passed away, she and the youngest of her children, Alan, became business partners. After Alan entered the family business, they changed the name to Top Hat Imagewear, and expanded the company into a high-end custom uniform manufacturer.

Ann loved three things in life: her family, Temple Beth Israel, and Top Hat. She worked at Top Hat until her family was able to finally convinced her to retire at the age of 90.

Ann was a respected and devoted member of the Village of Hempstead community. She was president of the Hempstead Chamber of Commerce, was on the board of Hempstead for Hofstra where she received an award for “effort,” and was a very active member of Congregation Beth Israel of Hempstead.

Ann is survived by her three children, Marlene, Jay, and Alan; her daughters-in-law Marion and Chris; and her four grandchildren, Jason, Garrett, Lauren, and Erica.

She will be greatly missed.
