Martin Garber was born on August 22, 1923.

Marty is a World War II veteran, joining the Army in January 1942 and serving in Europe until December 1944, rising to the rank of sergeant. A graduate of NYU and a certified public accountant, he met his future wife, Harriet, at a best friend's wedding, where he was the Best Man, and she was the Maid of Honor at her cousin's wedding. They were married two years later and moved to Flushing.

They had a daughter named, Marlene. He widowed in 2008. He lived with his daughter, Marlene, son-in-law Angel, and granddaughters Candice and Alexa since 1994.

He had the pleasure of meeting his great-grandson, Charlie, and attended his granddaughter Candice's wedding.

He was a very kind, loving, and great role model. He was loved by all who knew him.
